Jimena de la Frontera
The castle of Jimena stands on a Roman fortress and dates from the 13th century. It was built by the Moors from Granada and during the Spanish War of Independence it was used for fighting the French. It was declared a National Monument in 1931.
Cartellar de la Frontera
The wonderfully preserved and beautiful walled town of Castellar is setted in a fantastic natural surroundings and was declared a national monument in 1963.
Guzman el Bueno Castle
This castle is one of the best examples of Moorish military architecture and maybe it is the best sample of the caliphal art in this kind of building. It was built on the orders of the Caliph Abderramán III and was finished in 960 A.D.
